- The Waff method has one target: the brain & two objectives :
- The activation of the neuro-muscular system through postural and proprioceptive work.
- The deactivation of the neuro-muscular system to facilitate relaxation and recovery, as well as, inducing sleep and improving its quality.
Participants in this course will be introduced to the method with a brief history on the creation of the tools used in the method, and a presentation of the three sizes and two materials/levels of these tools with their particular physical and mechanical characteristics. Emphasis will be made on the proper handling and safety precautions as well as proper guarding techniques of the patients/clients.
Participants will be educated on the different areas that can be worked on Waff which include posture, mobility, stability, conditioning and relaxation/deactivation. Each area will be presented with the most up-to-date research on evidence-based applications of the method. Focus will be made on practicing on the Waff tools, for each dominant of work, as a user and as an instructor, in order for the participants to become familiar with the Waff experience.
Finally, a presentation of the application of the Waff method will be made to the participants so they can understand the basic navigation within the application and the benefits of having a data base of exercises to refer to, depending on the desired goal.
